No procrastinating today...I am here to report on the class I had at Eagle Creek Quilt Shop yesterday. There was one who had to cancel, so the class ended up with 5 sweet ladies hanging out with me all day friday. I was so happy to see that each one of them picked out beautiful different fabrics. I said that I was going to give away a prize, and that I did. I ended up doing the "mystery word" game that Ellen does on her talk show. If you haven't seen it, she picks a mystery word and then she tries to get one of her guests to say the mystery word. If they say it, the whole audience gets a prize. The girl's started out just rolling random words out of their mouths. Luckily, no one said the word right away and we were soon busy creating and I think they kind of forgot about it. About half way through class I decided to nudge them a little bit. I started a conversation about what other fabrics the wall hanging could be made out of. It took them a few minutes to catch on to the fact that I was trying to get them to say the mystery word. As they shouted out words like cotton, silk, rayon ?, and others...Jackie finally said it...the word was BATIKS! I had a winner. Jackie won my "W" is for Witch pattern (fitting for Halloween) and a pair of Halloween socks and a big candy corn sucker. That was fun for me and I hope for the girl's as well. I think I am going to make the "Mystery Word Game" a must in all the classes I teach. So, without further ado...I present to you the friday class from Eagle Creek Quilt Shop...
Louise, Jackie, Liz, Gloria, Dell
I hope you all had as much fun as I did...
Here are pictures of what they were able to accomplish in one class!
Louise...I loved the rich brown wool she used for the branches. She told us that she has had that wool since she was in high school!
Dell...she used a shimmery blue fabric for a night sky! I love the white "birch" branches!
Jackie...Dell and Jackie are sister's and they both used the white branches. Jackie's colors made my heart go pitter-patter...especially the orange wool that she used!
Liz...very Springy! I loved her colors. She had the most beautiful pink paisley and I loved, loved her choice of green branches!
Gloria...more beautiful Spring! OOPS! How come I don't have a picture of Gloria's? Did you pack up too early Gloria? Sorry, Sorry, I'm not sure what happened, but I assure you that her quilt was beautiful!
I want to thank Eagle Creek and the girl's for a really FUN DAY! I love teaching there and I can't wait to be invited back. Check out Eagle Creek's web. The pictures and story of the building are great!
Thanks for letting me share my class. It's time to go see if any candy is left for the trick or treaters tonight. I have been finding a trail of candy wrappers around the house that seem to be where ever Sam has been...hhhhhmmmmmm...I should have hidden the candy before hand.
Happy Hallow's Eve Everyone.
enjoy your day!
